Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder, affecting up to 5-15% of women

Symptoms of PCOS

Signs and symptoms of PCOS often develop around the time of the first menstrual period and during puberty. Some PCOS symptoms surface later in life, such as infertility or recurrent miscarriage. Common symptoms of PCOS include: Irregular periods: Infrequent, heavy, irregular, or prolonged menstrual cycles is one of the most common sign of PCOS. Excess of androgens, which can cause acne, hair loss, and excessive facial or body hair Polycystic ovaries: Ovaries may be enlarged and contain follicles that surround the eggs. As a result, the ovaries might fail to function regularly. Approximately 50% of women who have PCOS experience benign growths called “cysts” on their ovaries Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

Treatment of PCOS with BHRT

We use several interventions in the treatment of PCOS. Metformin is very useful in treating the root cause of PCOS, which is insulin resistance Progesterone is used to reduce risk of endometrial cancer, and regulate menstrual cycles. It can also decrease risk of miscarriage and help with sleep and anxiety. Spironolactone is used to help with hormonal acne and to reduce excessive hair growth. If you or any of your family or friends is suffering with symptoms of PCOS, we would love to help!
