Let’s Talk About Sex

February 25, 2022Hormones

Happy February! In honor of the month of love, let’s talk about how BHRT can be used to increase libido and improve your love life!

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy has been shown to increase the libido of men and women, improving sexual desire as well as function. Approximately 70% of low libido in men and women can be attributed to a hormone imbalance.

Dr. Andre Harris is a board-certified Ob/Gyn with an interest in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy. Listen to this TEDTalk as he shares his personal story about how low testosterone affects your body, your relationships, and how this doesn’t need to become your “normal”.

Low Testosterone in Women

Testosterone levels can start to decline as early as our 30s, and steadily decrease with age until the levels drop dramatically during menopause. Low testosterone symptoms in women include:

Low libido

Decrease in sexual response and orgasm

Weight gain

Fatigue and decreased stamina

Loss of bone density and lean muscle mass

Vaginal dryness

Low Testosterone in Men

Testosterone is an essential hormone for quality of life and longevity. Testosterone levels can start to decline as early as our 30s, and sometimes earlier with certain conditions, (i.e., concussion, TBI testicular injury, poor sleep, etc). Males also go through a menopausal stage, known as andropause, where hormone levels dramatically decrease as they do in women. Low testosterone symptoms in men include:

Low libido and Sexual dysfunction

Loss of bone density and lean muscle mass

Fatigue

Sleep difficulty

Mood changes

Difficulties with concentration

Weight gain
